Description / 1795 50C Flowing Hair Half Dollar Two Leaves PCGS XF45 O-130 R5
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-130, T-8. Rarity-5-. Two Leaves. EF-45 (PCGS).
An incredible survivor from this scarce die pair that gets more delightful the closer you examine it. Overall dove-grey with scatted olive patina, the complexion reveals sapphire-blue and golden iridescence at the border under direct lighting. Traces of planchet adjustment are noted on the obverse, but the surfaces remain free of significant post-mint abrasions. Sharply struck with satiny luster in the fields and an impressive composure on the reverse. This is an historic example that can be traced back to the (Stack's) Winter Collection sale of January-February 1974. It currently sits among the finest of this variety, ranking in the top 6-8 examples known. Check out all the great US Coins, Paper Money, Ancients, World and Exonumia at Sarasota Numismatics.
