1880 T$1 Trade Dollar PCGS PR67+CAM (CAC)

1880 T$1 PR67+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. Ex: Simpson. The 1880 Trade dollar -- only struck in proof format -- is a well-made issue, popular with type collectors, especially when found in high grade. Nonetheless, Superb Gem examples are scarce, and PCGS has seen fewer than a dozen Cameo specimens in PR67 with none graded finer; two Deep Cameos in this grade are also reported.

The Simpson Superb Gem is a starkly contrasted top-grade Cameo, showing nearly flawless, liquidlike fields that glimmer beneath a light. Warm sun-gold interiors cede to peripheral amber, violet, blue, and olive toning, complementing the sharpness of the central devices. Eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 11 in 67 (4 in 67+) Cameo, 0 finer. Check out all the great US Coins, Paper Money, Ancients, World and Exonumia at Sarasota Numismatics.
